Here you can find a selection of freight timetables (FTTs) for popular spotting locations in our area. The aim of this section is to help the enthusiasts out there who specialise in photographing or just spotting freight trains. The information is taken directly from the railway computer system TRUST, thank you to those who have provided it, you know who you are!
Here is a short guide to using the FTTs:
- H’code – Headcode of the service
- Origin – The start point for the service
- Destination – The end point for the service
- PASS – The time the service is booked to pass the location chosen
- Days – The days the service should run on (if blank - every day)
- F.O.C. – The freight operating company the train is worked by
- Loco – The class of locomotive booked to operate the train
- Type of load – The sort of load you can expect to find on the train
- Notes – Any other information about the train
There are also a few other systems used within these documents.
- The pass times are given with a letter after the time, this signifies where the train is heading e.g. N for North, E for East, S for South and W for West.
- If a service is highlighted in blue this means it runs as required on the days given in the appropriate column. A service highlighted in red signifies a service that is not a frequent runner.
- The days column uses the standard railway days notation. The SX (Saturdays Excepted) documents cover M – F, and service that is MWThO, for example, will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday. A service that is FX will run on all days apart from Fridays. The SO and, if available, SuO documents do not use such a system as only one day is covered.
